This page explains, in plain language, what SimpleDirect does with your data across the Vinci web app, the mobile apps, the Vinci Platform, and our developer API. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy — this is the short, honest version.
Where it runs
Vinci inference is served by DeepInfra or Fireworks in Canada or the United States, depending on the class. Both use zero-data-retention routes. Your messages, attachments, and replies are processed only long enough to answer you, then deleted — nothing is stored, and nothing is ever used to train a model. Web searches run through our own search service in Montréal; some searches use an external search API.

What we store
Zero data retention
By default, Vinci doesn't store the content of your conversations — messages, attachments, and replies are processed to answer you and then discarded, and only a basic daily count is kept (never what you typed). Your chat history lives on your device. If you turn on sync (off by default), an encrypted copy is kept on Canadian infrastructure so it follows you across devices — turn sync off and that copy is deleted. The one thing we store by default is a document you upload for retrieval: it stays, scoped to your account, until you delete it. If you create an account, we keep your email, a display name, and a securely hashed password.
What we do not do
- We don't train any model on your conversations — ever.
- We don't sell or rent your personal information.
- We don't share your conversations with third parties. A small set of named providers process limited data for us under contract — see our Privacy Policy.
- We don't run product analytics unless you opt in — and even then, never on your conversation content.
- We never log the content of your conversations — it's deleted the moment you get a reply.

- Building on the OpenAI-compatible developer API
- Running our free open models yourself, if you'd rather
What this is not for
- Regulated personal data (such as health records) unless you've verified it meets your obligations
- Information you're contractually or professionally barred from processing on third-party services
- Your only copy — on-device history can be lost if you clear your device and sync is off
- Anything you wouldn't want stored if you turn on sync or upload it as a document
If you need full control
If you'd rather run a model entirely on your own machine, our own models — Piccolo and Bozza — are free on Hugging Face. Download one and run it offline, and nothing ever leaves your network.
Customer agency
For any data type, we trust you to make the right call. We won't gatekeep based on what you type — that's your decision as a professional. We give you the trade-offs in plain language. The choice is yours.
Privacy Officer
We've named a Privacy Officer accountable for how we handle personal information under PIPEDA and Quebec's Law 25. In-app account deletion and export tools are still being built, so for now you can exercise your data rights — access, correction, deletion, or export — by contacting them.

Your controls
You're in control: keep history on your device or turn on sync (and turn it off to delete the server copy); view, edit, and delete what Vinci remembers in Settings — durable facts are stored with your account, never logged and never used for training; delete any document you've uploaded; opt analytics on or off; and revoke API keys anytime. In-app account deletion and export are on the way; until then, contact our Privacy Officer to exercise any right.
