The story
SimpleDirect-Flash-1-Mini was our first-ever published model. We began with bilingual Canadian legal work: better citation, instruction-following, balanced English and French competence, and legal reasoning were the goals. A few weeks later, Piccolo 1.0 took its place. We retired Flash from our active lineup, but it remains the beginning of our model story.
What it is for
A historical bilingual model for legal research and drafting. After downloading the model and a compatible runtime, it can run offline on a suitable computer without an external server. Its model card preserves the original evaluation and trade-offs.
Scope and limitations
It can produce incorrect information. Citations require primary-source checks. Reported trade-offs include retrieval, function calling, and some French legal tasks. It does not replace professional judgment.
